Pakcik Bill,

How the Kamis uniformly polish and shine the khukury blade surfaces to the glossy finish ? Is it done manually or using some sort of machine ? Is the blade was actually chromed ?

When I use my 15" AK to cut branches, clearing grass or shrub, digging, resharpening the blade edge and even in the process of sheathing & unsheathing ~ some scratches stay on the blade surfaces. The same blade polishing and shining techniques use by the Kamis might be helpfull for me to regain the lovely original glossy appearance.

Pakcik Bill & other forumites;
Pls advice me all those tricks ! Thanks in advance !

Hello Nephew:

The kamis now have electricity to help them polish the khukuris. To do this by hand would take a month. Take a look at the blade on the village khukuri picture and you will get an idea of what must be done to get the blade up to the finish you see.

Everybody has their own method of shining up the blade. I use a 600 and 800 grit emory cloth when I want to work off the scratches -- which is very seldom.
