Blade polishing.

Greetings. I have a question for all of you. I have an Victorinox Soldier (77), and although it's in great condition, it has some scratches on the tip. In other words, about the front 1/3 of the blade. I've tried to polish them out with MAAS metal polish to no avail. Is there another way to remove the scratches ? I do not use the knife for EDC or any other purpose. I simply collect and would like to restore the knife blade for added value.

Thank you all in advance.

you will have to use some fine sandpaper and progress through the grits until you get all the scratches out and the finish done the way you want it. i would start out with 1000 grit wetordry to be safe and see what it does to the scratches. you dont want to go too coarse or you will make it worse. after getting the scratches out just progress to finer grits until you polish out the blade. then go to your metal polish to finish it off.

Maas is good stuff, but it really won't remove scratches. You'll have to work up through the grits of sandpaper.

Sandpaper ? I would have never thought to use sandpaper. I will give it a try. Thanks !

I believe they are talking about wet or dry paper found at your local auto parts store. Don't use regular Sand paper or you will really have some scratches to remove. You may have already known that, but I felt it may have needed clarification. If not, my apologies.

Blessings,

Omar
