Same procedure as described here:

BRKT Bravo 1 was my first experiment that I have done long time ago and recently shared here on BF.

BRKT Manitou is my second. The procedure is the same, but I have used grinder to do the major flattening of JB after it hardened, finished it with sandpaper.
Again, keep in mind, this is just MY Manitou, yours might not be the same. MY knife was used and sharpened. Also, as far as I know all BRKT knives are ground by hand, so there might be some differences right from the start. In any way, I think this should give a better idea about what to expect from such knife.

Manitou is a hunting knife and clearly is not designed for any abuse. Of course the very edge can be modified (sharpened a bit) to more obtuse angle if one desires more robust edge.

The profile cast was taken where I think the edge is the thinnest (right on the belly). I do realize that profile looks almost like full flat grind, but there is a very very slight convex curve there. Because of such thin profile and the nature of the procedure, there might be some slight errors, so treat all measurements merely as very approximate values.

effer thanks for angle degree info. most of us do'nt have equipment & knowledge to get these results.

I'm glad if this is useful to somebody.
No equipment is needed to do such a cast. A JB weld stick costs around $5 (I think). It can be found in any automotive and most hardware stores. For B1 I have used less than 10% of the stick, for Manitou I have used maybe 25%-30%. Then it can be work on with sandpaper. Calculating the results might be tricky. If anyone wants to do it without a good image processing software, I would suggest taking a picture of the cast, printing out blown up picture and then measuring and adjusting measurements to the scale.

Nice!. Do you have to use WD-40? Or some other solvent can prevent sticking to the blade too? Like isopropyl alcohol? I wanna do the same thing for some of the kitchen knives...

pretty darn cool way to look at things. are you planning on doing the same for the fox river? thanks.

I don't have Fox River. Those two are the only BRKTs that I have right now.

I'm planning to do my Busse Hell Razor with convex edge that I put on it, but I don't think it will be much use to anybody but me, because that convex will be very different from factory V-edge (and different from their competition convex edge). Same thing for GI Tanto that I have convexed.

You can use whatever you want to prevent JD from sticking to the blade. I'm sure that a simple thing like vegetable oil from the kitchen will work too.
