Blade Quality of Magnum Knives

I've flipped through the catalog of Magnum knives and realize that many of them
don't constitute the top tier of knife production, but I wonder how good the blade
steel can be expected to be on, say, a 440C fixed knife blade? It's a decent blade
steel, but can I trust the heat treat? Many of the knives look suspiciously like S&W
knives, and Smith uses 440C in some of their knives. Whether it's any good, either,
I don't know.

Anyway, I'm looking at the Magnum "Great West" Bowie, which goes for sixty-five
bucks. It's a handsome looking knife...so what do you think?

I can`t vouch for the blade steel, but I bought a bunch to sell at the local flea market, and I was impressed with the quality for the price. True, not the best of knives,(made in China, I think)But good workmanship for the price.

Well, I've had pretty good luck with some of the S&W 440C bladed knives, and it's made in China. But production quality varies.

I was looking for an Uzi Defender fixed blade with 154CM blade steel, but I couldn't find any for a great price and didn't much care for what I was reading about them.

Thanks.

Confederate,

I was given a Magnum Lord. Its a damascus lockback similar in design to a 110. Thinner in profile, NS bolsters, real burl inlay and pretty decent damascus. All in all, a very nice knife considering features offered for the price.
