Blade refinishing???

A year ago or so, a family friend of mine sold me a Benchmade 9100 AutoStryker. He gave it to me for $70 because a customer had his initials "JC" engraved on the blade, but had never returned to pick up his new purchase. 3 years later, after all hope of the guy returning was gone, I got a killer deal.

So my question is, what are my options as far as refinishing the blade and getting rid of the "JC" ? I have dealt with it for a year, and have finally decided to do something about. From what I can tell, the engraving doesnt go much deeper than the coating and could potentially be an easy fix.

I wish I could keep the BM butterfly logo, but realize that probably isnt a possibility.

Thanks ahead of time :)

Edit: heres a pic if it matters at all...second from the top.

Glass beaded? Could you elaborate please? Would that remove all black from the blade? Where could I get this done?

Sorry, I realize that is a lot of questions haha

glass bead will remove the black coating. it was hard to tell the blade was coated in the picture. have you tried to contact bm and ask them what would remove the lettering?

Glass bead will leave a very slight, very skinny engraving behind, but strip off all of the coating.

Make sure to take your knife apart first, and blast the blade alone. It'll take the edge off right quick too.

you could try going the other way and find a good engraver and get the letters changed into some thing elce should'nt be too hard to come up with some thing and keep the butterfly.
