I have a Puma 675 Stockman on which the tip of the clip has been broken off (probably 1/8 - 1/4 inch). What is the advisable method for ther repair of this? Or, am I better of just "living with it?"

Thanks for any advice.

This is a really easy fix. Carefully regrind the point. If you are not a knifemaker you could try using a file, to file away the break so that the edge will form a new point at the spine. You could even place tape on the knife to create a 'layout' to prevent filing away too much metal. By hand filing you will prevent any heat buildup from softening the steel. A broken tip is too ugly to look at, so give it a try, if not find a knifemaker, or purhaps a gunsmith.

How bad is the tip ? I have done this several times with different knives.
You can use a file or a stone but dont use a grinder or you might as well throw away your knife cause you'll jimmy up the heat treat.
Easy , you need a file a vise some emery cloth/paper to finish it up.
Use a fine felt tip marker to see what shape you'd like your new tip then cut the blackened ink matel part away , there's your new tip.
Hope that made sense im on 4 hours sleep and sort of groggy.

To re-shape the tip of blade just grind away with a sander until you get the shape you want. Important--use a slow speed, new sandpaper, minimal pressure, and lots of patience to ensure the blade doesn't get too hot. Cool often in a glass of water. Put tape on the rest of the blade so you don't cut yourself.

Thanks again for the advice and pointers.
The mission has been accomplished and I'm very satisfied with the results.
I used a coarse stone and 'hand-sharpened" the blade to a point at the spine. It took quite a bit of time, but was well worth the effort as I said I'm satisfied. I now have my old friend back with me.

Good work!
Your next task is to custom shape a blade you want different.
Then a custom blade from scratch!
It's a great hobby--enjoy.
