Will benchmade replace a blade with another models blade? I have an original 940 with the reverse tanto and partial serrations and wanted the clip point from the 943. If they won't do it, anybody up for a trade?

They won't do that. 940 for 940, 943 for 943.

That is incorrect. Yes they will do that. I sent in a 943 and had them install a blade from a 940. So yes to answer your question they will do exactly what you want. You just need to be clear in your description. They will not however, change the blade steel though.

I did call before I sent mine in. Not sure if that helped or not but not a bad idea just in case.

The best thing to do is CALL first and explain exactly what you'd like them to do. I had a couple of blade swaps done.....581 from satin to black blade and a 943 combo to plain edge. Not only did they swap the blades, they also replaced springs and tuned both knives. Most excellent service!
I try to speak with Micah Hunter......she is extremely helpful and fun!

I guess I'll be calling, sent an email and just today got the response that they would not do that because it would then be a"custom" knife.

Not sure who emailed you but they should do that for you. I just sent mine a few months ago so it hasn't been very long.

They told me they would do it as long as at some point it had been offered that way. Like in my situation they used to make a black handled 940. It was the 942. They used to make a green handled 943 called the 941. The configuration your asking for is one they used to make therefore they will make the switch for you. Just call and talk to somebody and they will get it straight.
