That's what I want in a SAK for hiking, a blade, a saw, and a pair of scissors. In fact, it doesn't really need to have a blade, but I really want the saw and scissors.

The limited search I've done so far has found me a variety of models with those three items, but once you get into the ones with scissors AND a saw, they start getting really big and having a lot of stuff I don't need.

So... which is the most basic SAK available that has both a saw and a pair of scissors? It will be used for hiking/backpacking.

I think the thinnest model with scissors and a saw is the Huntsman.
Thats a four layer model. (large blade/small blade, canopener/bottle opener, scissors, saw, with an awl, corkscrew and hook on the spine, toothpick and tweezers in the grip panels, and a lanyard ring).
Actually the Huntsman is one of my favorite SAK's right up there with the Pioneer, Farmer, Compact, OHT and the Swisschamp.

Without getting a mod done, I can't think of anything better for you than the Huntsman. It's a great SAK that I've carried a lot over the last couple of years.

Trying plugging your data in here to see what suits you.

Sweet, has trying to find something like this.

By the Huntsman does look like a really good option. It is a bit thicker than I'd like, but it has everything I want in it.

I know what you mean. The reason I did my first ever mod was to make a thinner Huntsman. I ended up with this what I called the Huntsman Slim.

Another, easier, option is to look at a belt pouch or hanger. Here's the one I use pictured with a standard Huntsman. The fit works well.

The only think is that is has a velcro flap that some folks wouldn't like.

That mod is cool. The can opener can easily be used as a bottle opener and the small blade is nice, but not needed. A custom SAK maker would be cool. Go to the SA website and have a SAK built with everything you want and nothing you don't want. $200 later you'd be all set lol.

Wenger has a similar model too.

Here's the Handyman model, also available in black:

Wenger also has versions with locking blades, ergonomic scales, and red or yellow ergonomic scales with rubber inserts.
