Recently finished up this evil-looking custom. An east/west hybrid gyuto with a western style sculpted handle in my style.
A couple of months ago I was commissioned to make a custom gyuto set -- something stainless and low maintenance, in some kind of purple wood. This is what I came up with!

A full tang 210mm gyuto with my sculpted handle, and a textured tsuchime along the blade flats.
Blade Specifications:
Steel: AEB-L, Cryo & triple tempered to 61HRC
Hanlde: Brass bolsters, scultped Purple/black maple burl, blind pins, brass pin
Saya: Custom purple/black stabilized Maple burl, silicon bronze pins

I reached out to Matt over at King & Queen Woods to get this wood custom piece stabilized. I selected a couple of maple burl blocks for this piece. One in the handle, and a couple of end cuts for the saya scabbard for a hell lot of character.
A closeup on all the handle facets
Tapered full tang -- 3.5mm at the bolster, tapering down to 2mm at the end of the tang
Distal taper -- 3.5mm at the bolster, tapering down to 1.75mm before it transitions to the tip.
Thanks for looking guys!
