I'm having trouble deciding between two knives that are almost identical except for the blade shape, and that is between the BM 940 and 943.

The 943 is a clip point, comes to a fine tip, and has a slimmer look (to me)
The 940 is what BM calls a reverse tanto, has a thick tip, and looks more "substantial".

For an EDC which blade shape do you like better?

I could have gone with either, but I wound up getting the clip point and it has been a great EDC!

Hey Nikz, this knife is on my wishlist also. I recently went to a local bass pro shop store and they had the green 940 in stock. So I asked to look at it. I didnt like the blade style online, and didnt like it even more in person. Now obviously I didnt cut anything with the blade but I just didnt like it. This my person opinion though. The 943 is the one on my wish list at NGK. As far as the knife I love how thin the blade is. Really like the way the blade tucks into the handle seemed like it would be really comfortable in the pocket.

I like the 940 and think it is one of the best series ever done by Benchmade. I think you would like the stronger tip on the 940 but which ever one you choose you will love it! Good Luck! Kevin

I generally prefer drop point or modified drop point on most of my knives. In fact I own a BM930 and while I like the point on that knife, there are other reasons why it's back in the box and not EDC for me. Looking at the two you selected, I definitely prefer the 940 over the 943 however.

I had an Osbourne 943 and It was awesome i ruined it because im dumb...clip point blades are sweet id recommend them to anyone.

I have both.

I like the 940 much more.

I cannot really explain why, but I do. Certainly seems more substantial, and I prefer the looks over the 943.

You will be very happy with either one.

I never thought I wouldn't like the 930 but the thing never grew on me. I made a good choice IMO and traded it for a 940, and a week later bought a 943. Of the two, and I love 'em both, I carry the 940 more often as my EDC.

The Osborne 94x series has always been among my favorite models in the Benchmade line~!

I've got a blade in each style, and I definitely carry the 943-style blade much more often.

Aesthetically, I find the 940 to be a bit of an acquired taste (thought it was ugly in person at first, but it's grown on me), and the 943 just looks awesome, and very classy.

In terms of utility, I prefer the 943, as its tip is a more pointy and maneuverable. However, if your EDC tasks require more tip strength for some reason, or if you spread a lot of peanut butter with your knife, you'd probably prefer the 940. (Also, if a beefy tip is really THAT necessary for your EDC tasks, you should consider a much more substantial knife, like a 610 or 14205.)

I didn't really like the hump on the spine of my 940, so I sanded it down to a more conventional profile:

Same here. I gave the 930 to my brother. That thing is awkward in hand.
