A couple of purchases -

BlackJack Small Kraton handle -
BJSmall2.jpg
BJSmall_bk2.jpg

Ken Warner had these at his BlackJack table for the low price of $33 -
I mean how could I resist?

The BlackJack "Small" select Cocobolo stainless is one of my favorite fixed blade - with its full convexed edge (zero bevel).

This Kraton handled one is much lower priced - it is "handcrafted" in China - made with some Chinese steel 8CR13....
it is obviously less refined than the Seki, Japan made Cocbolo Small that I already have - but its convexed edge makes it cut through very well - and at this kind of low price it makes a great knock about knife capable of some very serious cutting - a great buy even if I say so myself.

Another great buy is this Gerber UltraLight LST with smoke translucent handles - I got it for a minimum $5 donation -

it is personally signed by the legendary Pete Gerber.......

...
I was unable to get a photo of Tom Krein, as he was not at the show Saturday...

Thanks for checking, he should have been at table 25-E strange that!

But those photos of the sword demo are excellent!

Just got back from the BLADE SHOW..is was AWESOME............i was kinda like a KID in a candy store:D ..........

i dont get it how do you strop on cardboard?

It's actually easier to do than to describe -

Lay the blade flat on a piece of cardboard then drag it leading from spine to edge and lift the spine slightly such that the edge is just dragged on the cardboard surface. The point where the edge is just making contact with the cardboard can be heard/recognized, as the sound changes.

Cardboard is mildly abrasive so it serves to strop (hone) the edge.

It really works, as I touch up all my blades this way (I use a piece of corrugated cardboard cut from the flap of packing box).

Couple of direct comparison shots between the Kraton handled BlackJack Small -
and the BlackJack "Small" select Cocobolo stainless I bought also from Ken Warner at the Blade Show a couple of years ago....

BJSmall2-1.jpg
BJSmallR.jpg

The Cocobolo Small is ground thinner toward toward the edge than the Kraton Small -
both are really flat ground with a continuous convexed "bevel" -
conversely the Cocobolo Small looks in the photo to have a more distinctive convex "bevel" than the Kraton -
however in real-life it is the other way round -
look at the photos toward the tip and see how much wider the Kraton convexed bevel is in comparison -
that shows the cocobolo Small is much thinner toward the edge than the Kraton.
