This year the knives that really got me excited were the Ken Onion designs at CRKT (Columbia River Knife & Tool) -

CRKT Ripple 2:

CRKT_RippleK400KXPbk.jpg

these images were taken from the CRKT.com website - if I recall the logo on the blade at the show was different it looked like the KO of the Ken Onion customs

The Ripple are stainless steel frame-locks with Ti-Nitride coating in charcoal or blue -
it's a flipper - very easy and smooth due to a multi-ball bearing race arranged in a circle -
according to CRKT:
" the Ripple blade opening action is almost friction-free due to the IKBS ball-bearing system. This innovative and simple design places eight uncaged ball bearings on each side of the blade pivot in races which are machined into the stainless steel handle. It is compact and adjustable at the blade pivot screw if ever needed. Not only is opening and closing exceptionally smooth, the IKBS system is durable and requires little maintenance, and yields a folder with great rigidity and no blade play. "

the blade steel is Japanese Acuto+ 59-61HRC

According to the CRKT.com page:

ACUTO + HRC=59-60 C=0.90-0.95 CR=17-18 MN=0.50 MO=1.30 to 1.50 NI=-- PH =0.04 SI=0.50 V=.10 to .25 CO=--

- anyone know about this Acuto+ steel?

Even better is the CRKT Ken Onion Eros - which is somewhat like the Ripple 2 but with a Titanium frame-lock.

I'm hoping to get some pics from CRKT soon.

I found the IKBS website -

What is "IKBS"?
