Blade show in Atlanta is June 4, 5, 6th this year and I would really like to make it as I have never been before. I know it is still a little less than 2 months away but does anyone have any suggestions on what to do to plan for it? My best friend lives about 15 miles from where it is held so I already have a place to spend the night. It seems like I remember seeing people offer extra tickets? I don't know if these were for special access or if they were just extras or if I am remembering another event.

Anyways, if you have some suggestions let me know. And if anyone has an extra ticket (or 2 ideally so my fiance can come ) I would love to get some ahead of time especially if there is special access. Thanks!

Some companies give away VIP passes. I got two last year from Spyderco. IIRC they give you a discounted rate and an automatic 3-day visit. Not sure if they have any other perks, I usually only go one day to peruse the wares.

I wrote a little report of my visit to the 2008 show.

If you want to buy, get there Friday. Take cash, you can haggle better and some of the dealers give you a decent discount.

The only thing I'd do is plan ahead on what demonstrations you want to see and make sure you keep to schedule. It also helps to write down all the knives you want to handle or companies you want to visit. It's a pretty big show with a lot going on so it's easy to forget. Other than that it's regular convention stuff; wear comfy shoes and bring a bag and a water bottle if you plan on being there for more than a few hours.

Looks like you can now buy tickets on-line as well. If you can't get access to someone's extra tickets or a VIP pass it's better to get them on-line so you don't have to wait in line.
