This will be my first time to the Blade Show. Do any of you guys bring knives to trade/sell at the show?

Last year was my first trip to the Blade Show, and I'll be there again this year for the BladeSports Cutting Competition.
For my first trip I had some advice about this subject from some old hands...

The folks that pay for tables and stands in the show take a rather dim view of traders capitalising on the venue without having a table. Sure, some 'out of show' trading does go on, but it's best done well away from the show hall and done discretely. I think they call it 'brown bagging' or something similar.

Those involved in such are unlikely to respond to this post for the sake of discretion ;)

Table holders never like brown baggers competing with them but most are only to happy to buy knives they feel are bargains or sleepers off the same show visitors.

I have not gone but hope to, but on Talkblade there is talk about the "pit" where there is alot of trading going on...

It is frowned upon and supposedly if caught you are escorted off the floor. The bar at the Waverly Hotel (host hotel for Blade) is filled every night with knife folk and a fair amount of trading happens there.

I recently went to a knife show that encouraged people to bring knives to trade. They even had it on the flyer.

"The Pit" is the bar at the Waverley Renaissance Hotel (so named for the sunken seating area) and yes, it's full of knife knuts each evening of the show and I'm sure a good deal of relatively subtle trading is done there over a beer or two.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as I understand it, non-table holders are only allowed to bring one knife to the show. The rest will be secured by security personnel. I read this in a thread on these forums a few months ago.
