Not sure if this is the right forum to post this in but I didn't see where it would be more appropriate.

Anyway, considering going to The Blade Show this year, for the first time, and am looking for advice on where to stay and how far in advance I need to book. I'm sure most of the best(closest) places are already booked, spoken for, right after last years show. Realistically, if I wait until a week or so before the show to commit, am I going to be able to get a room a half an hour away, an hour away, or more ??????

Any other "do's or don't".

Also which airport is closer, or just more convenient, Dekalb-Peachtree or Fulton County ?

Thanks.

Atlanta has a ton of motels/hotels. Blade is near the I-285/I-75 connector, so almost any is within an hour.....depending on traffic, and Atlanta traffic is horrible, sometimes nothing is 1-hour away.:D

Bring money.
Wear comfortable shoes. Last year, the A/C in the Galleria left something to be desired, so light clothing would be a good idea.
If possible, get a VIP pass from a vendor or someone you know.
Prepare to have a great time.

Close to the same, Fulton is probably a tad closer.

As long as you have transportation, hotels/motels should not be a problem within 30 minutes of the hotel complex. Like everything else, it depends on how nice a place you require. For me, Holiday Inn Express is pretty good and I usually stay a lesser priced places for the most part.

I'm probably going this year. Skipped last year.

Where in va? Vb here, drove down last year and stayed at the westin, probably 20 min away from Cobb. I booked the room about this time, and I'm already booked again. Comfy shoes and light clothing for sure, it was stupid hot in ATL last year

Actually for that time of year it was pretty mild, it can be way hotter here.

From what I read elsewhere, Blade controls the A/C. Friday they had the loading doors open while folks were moving stuff in and turned off the A/C, then forgot to turn it back on. Saturday was not a lot better. You'd think as long as they have been coming to the Galleria they would know you have to crank up the air and leave it on to cool a room that big with that size crowd during the summer in this town.

Thanks for the heads up. Is parking a nightmare, should I make every effort to find a room within walking distance, or will it really matter?

This thread would have been better suited in the community forum, not in general knife discussion. Just sayin.

Moved. :)

Have a great time. Wear fireproof clothing. Atlanta in the summer is hot enough to set anything else ablaze! :D
(OK, I'm a winterbaby. :p )

You shouldn't have a problem finding parking.
Galleria has a multi-level parking deck next to it and another 2-3 level deck right across the street with tunnel access. Plus several parking lots around it. All free.

That's about it. Except: bring a bottle of water as even water is expensive at the show.

Pack two pairs of shoes. You will be on your feet all day. It's not good to do that in the same shoes two days in a row. So, bring two pairs and alternate.

Roger that!

Thanks again.
