Blade Show 2014 has come and gone. Thank you to all who stopped by and took some time to chat and check out knives. Special thanks to Moose, Guyon, and Bladite, for their handwork; excellent job as usual gents. All of you are what make events like the Blade Show and this forum one of the best places with some of the best people. Thanks everyone, see you soon.

What exactly did Moose do for you? :D

Great show, and it was good to see everyone. Very busy with lots of foot traffic. We durn near sold out of everything.
I also came home with some cool Ka-Bar swag, including t-shirts and ballistic shooting glasses.
I enjoyed getting to see some of the new Ka-Bar products, including the Snody Bosses, the Snake Charmer, and the new TDI sheaths. Good stuff.
Also, congratulations to John Stitt, President of Ka-Bar, for his Knife Rights Freedom's Guardian Award, given at the annual Knife Rights breakfast. Glad I was there to see it.

I got a question... The 14 "seconds" that were being sold, there isn't indicating them as a second. On top of that it seems that they are just the end of the old style coating and rolled stamped not the new coating laser etch.

Is this right? They aren't technically "seconds" they are just the end of the old stock?

Hey Chameleonbear, the 14's were indeed seconds. We have an internal way of knowing they are seconds that is not immediately apparent to the naked eye. Hope that helps.

NOW you've gone and done it... Time to break out the jeweler's loupe and examine the 14 against the other 14s to try to figure it out... There goes sleep for the next two weeks! :p

Thanks for the answer for real. I'll be honest from the seconds I've seen in the past there is usually a little divot in the handle somewhere. I'll have to actually take a look at it.

A magician never reveals all his secrets and neither do I. Was great chatting with you at Blade; already counting down until next year's.

Seconds notwithstanding, they've been one of the best show specials at Blade the past couple of years.

i scored me three of those seconds. i didn't of course, get there before Guyon had sorted through the entire box for the most perfect ones, but dang, you can't beat the price.

anyone that showed up on saturday afternoon looking for a lazy score was left wondering. sorry guys, buy people are buying those by the fistful. every year.

You know, I was just thinking of this very subject just the other day. I meant to start a thread asking people to post up their seconds and ask the question Cham did. I have been curious about "the seconds" ever since I think I bought a "second" BK24 a few months back. I have since sold it for what I paid for it, in an attempt to recruit another Kabarbarian/Beckerhead. But even when I first bought it I thought it was a second. The reason I think so is because right under the ESSE stamp there was a small "star shape" (looked like when kids draw snowflakes with just the lines intersecting) made with what looked like a ecthing tool/engraving tool. It was very faint and had no roughness to the touch. It was a weird thing and made me believe that the guy I got it from tried to sand it down a bit and pass it off as a "first." I got it about 20 dollars cheaper than I would have otherwise, and its a 24, so I was not that beat up about it. But I always wondered about it and wondered if I got taken advantage of.

i've never seen a second BK24. could be they are snapped up fast, or they don't exist. dunno.

looks like my seconds i got are stamped - cool! the others were meant to be laser etched but are sterile.

heck, they might even not be seconds - no divots. maybe a secret mark ;) i'll find out later...

I'm not sure about the 24 either. It was just an odd thing. Oh well. I really really need to find me another stamped 14 with the old coating. I wish they were still around. :(

I think they rub them with Dozier beard dust and it shows up under infrared.

Well, isn't that clever. Hey G, would you be willing to part with one of those seconds?

Sorry, I just had to ask, because I have no class.

I picked up a 24 for an excellent price at the show. It's an exceptional blade indeed.
