This year was my first blade show. However this isn't a review of the knives. Everyone knows that Blade is the place to go for any and everything you could want. This is a differs review. I want to discuss the great people I met and conversed with.

Here is a list of people I was able to actually talk to at length. (Random order)
- Tony Bose
- Gavin Hawk
- Jens Anso
- Travis Weurtz
- Bob Dozier
- Sal Glesser and his wife
- Bob Terzuola's wife
- Brad Southard
- Jarrett Fleming (Fleming Knives on BF)
- Brad Larkin (Bradford Knives on BF)
- Farid Mehr
- Serge Panchenko
- Niagra Specialty Metals
- Craig Camerer
- Winkler Knives
- several other makers and multiple bladeforum members.

All of the people listed were more than patient with their time. I'm sure they get several repeat questions over the course of the day, but each time they are happy to discuss them. It's nice to have a show to interact with the "top names in the game". The people are what make the knife community great.

Gavin hawk huh? Did you happen to check out their OTF automatic by any chance? I really really want to get my hands on one.

Yes sir I did. He arrived with two OTF knives and a prototype E.T.
The OTF was great. Not your run-of-the-mill OTF. It was everything you'd expect with G&G Hawk

I got to meet and speak with Gayle Bradley, Phil Wilson, Chris Reeve, and Bob Terzuola. Had a fantastic time!

It's very similar in size to the Snap On ZT knife. Similar blade shape and size with satin blade finish and Ti scales with frame lock.

Now I see the resemblance.

Although I can't find a blade length for either knife

Had a good time today there. I really didn't chit chat much with the big knife guys. Unlike almost every other trip to Blade, I did not leave with a custom/hand made knife this year. Wanted to visit with Krein, but he was gone by the time I hit his table. I was impressed with Fiddleback Forge's knives. This was the primer for buying a couple down the road.

As usual, I fondled many of Bob Dozier's knives, but did not buy one. I have most of the niches filled with his blades although the Yukon Skinner was very appealing. I like his beefy folders.

Seemed really crowded and things started to thin out a bit by 4:00 PM.

I didn't stop to talk to anyone this year, but they're always a great group of people to talk to. Very generous.

I wouldn't have much to say other than pissing and moaning to Serge and Sal about WHY NO CLEAVER YET?!?! And begging Jens to do another rock lobster with CF handles and N690 steel :)

I was there and enjoyed it, but did not find any of the big names at their booths other than Fair Mehr. Would have loved to meet with Tony Bose and son, CJ Buck and many others, but they were not there every time I checked. That was a disappointment to me. I doubt that I will go again. Nice Buck displays, by the way.

I saw Tony Bose first thing Friday day and he had about 8 knives. He used a "lottery" format and drew names at 3pm Friday. I saw Reese later on that afternoon. I didn't see either of them on Saturday. I also saw Farid Mehr. He had several K2 knives that were slightly smaller than normal. I wanted one BAD!
As far as the other "big names", I'm not positive who you're referring to, but Vox, Anso, Krein had aisle 18 pretty clogged up. I noticed Tom Krein didn't show up until mid-morning on Saturday because Vox had 38 "snails" that he was selling as first come, first serve. He also had 4 knives for lottery and one for auction. It was chaos but everyone was polite and patient.

I forgot to add elsewhere the one biggest thing I loved about Bladeshow: at no time was I in a crush of people. Sure, some of the smaller aisles were a tad tight, and you might have had to squeeze past a big guy wearing a large backpack, but everywhere for the most part was open and the tables/displays were easy to get close to. This was all day Saturday, I thought it was great.
