Dear Members,

In the last post I told you about the brand new custom models I will be introducing at the Emerson Lottery. We received emails asking what other custom knives I will be having at the show, so I’m going to give you a list. You might want to note that I’m bringing some Vipers to this lottery, models that I have not made for several years; the MV1, MV3, MV4 and MV5. All featuring Black G-10 handles in the classic Viper style. The lottery will feature live music from the Jim Morano Band and Jim will be unveiling the New Custom Suhr Guitar with the Emerson Skull. There will be the usual free T-Shirts and $200 dollars a bottle scotch and tequila for your pleasure.

Come and be part of the most celebrated lottery in all the cutlery world.

Best Regards,

Ernest Emerson

I'm curious about these lotteries, since I've never seen or experienced one. Is there one of each of those on the list, or are there some models that more than one of will be available?

When a name (or number, however it works) is called, how long does that person have to pick one out? I assume most people would make a list of what they want in order of most to least desired, and cross them off as other people take them, so when (if) they get called they already know what to go for. Is that about right?

How the Lottery typically works is that there are two parts, the person and the knife. The name of the person is drawn, and then the knife. Both are at random, so the person has no say in their knife. Let's use me as an example. Say my name gets drawn, and the Azek marud gets selected after my name. I then have the choice to buy it, or pass on it. What happens after I pass on it is beyond me. My best guess is that it goes back into the drawing for another lucky soul.

This is incorrect. This is the way the Online Virtual Lottery works. In person at Blade, your name is called and then when you make your way to the knives on the table it is first come first serve. You have your pick of the knife you'd like to purchase. Table price is $750-$2,000 for full dress models and everything in between depending on other variants such as Super models. Ernest will go over all the prices beforehand. Try to get there early because the room fills up instantaneously and usually there's standing room only as well as an overflow outside the room. It's definitely an experience! If selected you also get a free t-shirt, picture with Ernie and your choice (usually 3) of a shot of top shelf Tequila, Whiskey or Moonshine. Good luck!!

You usually have a minute to decide when you're up there but if you attend from the beginning you can hear what has already been chosen. Keep track so you'll know exactly what you want when you get up there. The convention center only gives us a certain amount of time, maybe an hour to get this all done before the next group comes in. (If it's reserved after us) we like to keep things moving and it's just courteous.

Ah, that's my fault; thanks for the correction!

Man I wish I could attend but it's too far. This sounds awesome.
