Hey Traditionalist friends.

I am wondering what everyone scored at Blade Show this year. I just moved to the Atlanta metro area less than a year ago and got to attend by first blade show. Holy guacamole, still can't process it all and I don't even think I saw half the show. I scored only one knife and I actually had to find a way to trade it out of the guys pocket - LoL. (its a nice full size 4'' Trapper - o1 blade - titanium chassis - Black canvas slabs with torx screw contstruction) I'm not sure he wants me to post that knife since its not really what he's known for making, so I will hold off on posting it for now. I could hardly get out of the ABS section and I would love to see all the traditional goods people picked up at the show.

Here is the little fixed blade my girlfriend picked up - A Ray Kirk M.S. integral hunter made from 52100 and Buckeye Burl. It came with an incredible sheath, I reallly like it. This piece came screaming sharp and at a fantastic price (a shade under $200). If I don't say so myself, she has great taste.

Very nice. I love Ray's integrals. I have some of his 52100 rounds like that started as. Ray is a great guy and has the heat treat nailed on that steel. Congratulations on your score.

Your girlfriend has excellent taste. Beautiful blade and that burl handle is stunning!!!

I have personally never been to the blade show but would so enjoy going one year! Hope you had a great time.

That Ray Kirk is a stunner

Very nice! I was there yesterday as well and it is a bit overwhelming. Lots of nice stuff though! You got a winner.

Very cool. I bet those shows are overwhelming yes, just so much to see!

Very true. I've been to every one since they moved to Atlanta - still get befuddled on what to see. Adding to the confusion, the booths & tables got put in different places this year. Great Eastern Cutlery was in almost the exact opposite placement from last year. Finally got to handle the GEC #55 and I really liked how it felt in my hand. Did not get one because all they had was in burnt stag. They were nice, but I'm really liking the Autumn Bone better. Buddy of mine picked up a GEC #22 in Antique Ivory Bone. Saturday night I was talking to one of my favorite knife makers, Tom Krein, and mentioned I was more into slipjoints lately. When I pulled my Ebony Eureka Jack out of my pocket he just chuckled and pulled a Moss Green Bone Talon out of his. But my favorite knife I saw was a birch bark handled puukko by Pekka Tuominen. It just felt incredible in-hand and looked beautiful.

Yes - that´s a fine looking knife. The handle shape is nice and well rounded - the blade shape seems to be very functional.

... and it looks great in female hands.

A very good taste, indeed :)

That burl handle is something else, great landing there. Seems like the better snag was your girlfriend though! Wish I could get my lady to want something like that, sheesh, I had to basically sneak a Victorinox Classic into her purse.

Thanks for all the comments guys - Anybody else got pictures of what they got?

Sadly, I wasn't able to find the GEC booth. I wanted to go have a look at all their patterns in person. I hardly got out of the ABS / GUILD section.

I've talked to Ray Kirk before, and admired some of his knives (Tulsa Gun Show), he does some slipjoints, from time to time, as well. I nearly bought one, he's a very impressive guy. That particular knife is a superb example of his work.

What a great knife. Well chosen Andi. Ray is one of the fines people you would ever want to have as a friend and his work reflects his character.

Who's Andi? ;)

So I guess no one else bought TRADITIONAL KNIVES at BLADE SHOW 2014 ?!

Here is the trapper I traded for - took it right out of the makers pocket

he will still remain unnamed - if you can read the mark, please keep it to yourselves

4'' closed, 3.'' o1 blade - titanium frame - Open grain black canvas - No.6 torx screw fasteners

taken down to ~.003 before edge was put on

a real drop in the pocket an use'r

anybody else??
