I had the pleasure of attending the Blade Show as it is only 15 minutes from my house, and I have a connection to get a VIP pass. I know, I know, you all hate me.

I went to the knife throwing championship hosted by John Bailey. I had a blast watching that and talking to Mr. Bailey afterwards. I have always wanted to spear hunt, and now knife throw, and I think I will head to Brigade Quartermaster next week (20 minutes from me) and pick up a few Cold Steel knives and get John's videos.

I had kind of a bad intro to knife throwing, but I am not letting it get me down. I was the guinea pig at the championship to throw the non-rotating knives with the index finger hole that John sells. He told me not to throw them hard, and it is a finesse throw. My first two throws were right on target, but I underthrew them...just trying to follow directions. My next two throws were of good power, I just missed the GIANT 6'x6' target from 28'.

Sounds like a worthwhile experience. I really wanted to see the knife throwing competition, but unfortunately I was unable to stay on Sunday, so I only got to go to the show Friday and Saturday. I got to see Bobby Branton's demo though; that was a lot of fun. I also picked up 2 throwing knives while there, both from John Bailey's table. One was his model no. 3, I think it's called his youth model (about 9" long, 11 oz.) and the other was a 13 incher from Spiker, not sure what the actual name of it is. Both are tons of fun to throw, the Spiker's a great target thrower, easier to throw and more accurate, but to me the small one's more fun to toss around.

You're a lucky guy, well, at least now I know why my Bo-Kri is late - John was on Bladeshow ;)
