Hey Gang,

I have a question about the upcoming Blade Show (starting to get just a little excited) :D

I know that there are some Custom Makers that are so popular that they have to hold Raffles at their tables just to give everyone an equal chance to purchase a knife. I was wondering how these Raffles work?

- Is there a list of Makers that will be holding Raffles this year? (possibly available from Krause?)

- How do Buyers know when a Raffle is to be held?

- How many folks actually show up for a given Raffle?

- Are the Raffles more like a Fire Sale at Victoria's Secret or are they very organized and well planned?

Anyone that has participated in a Raffle I would appreciate hearing about your experience (ie. whether you actually won and were able to purchase a knife, etc)

I'll just speak about Emersons and Onions cause that's what I know.
They are actually lotteries not raffles. You stop by their table and put your name on a card and drop it in a box. They will tell you when they are doing the drawing.
As each persons name is pulled from the box, they get their choice of the knives left on the table to buy at the makers price. In Ernie's case if he has another of the model just chosen he will put it on the table until they are all gone.
And yes, usually alot more people show up them there are knives.
I've had my name pulled a few times at Emersons lotteries.
 
Tony and Reese Bose hold a lottery for the opportunity to purchase their knives. You put your name on a card in front of each knife on the table which you would like to buy. They draw a card for knife "a" then the person's name drawn has a first option to buy that specific knife. then they move on to knife "b", then the next....
While I have wanted to obtain a folder from each of the Bose guys, I have not actually participated in the drawings yet. I understand by the way from another thread, that the Bose team takes cash or check but not charge cards, so be prepared. Are their knives worth the drawing and anticipation and waiting? OH MY, YES!
 
Thanks for the correction (to Lotteries) and the information.

Do the Lotteries happen on Saturday mostly or do they pull numbers all through the weekend?

Anyone else participate in one of these?
 
If I am not mistaken, (and I may well be) Tony and Reece hold their drawing on Friday around 2 or 3. (if not Friday it is Saturday).

Not sure of the timing for Ken and Earnie, but I think they do it at a specific time so that people will know to be there.

The knife in my avatar was one at one of the Bose drawings (actually I swapped rights to another knife). Win or loose, it is a lot of fun.
 
I seriously doubt if Ken will have a raffle at blade, Ernies is going to be on saturday.........you need to check with each individual to find out when its going to happen.
