Do you suppose Gus and Blues are sitting around somewhere in Atlanta, with pockets full of new knives, playing show and tell with all the custom slipjoints they got today? I like to think they are.

I hope they are! sigh. . . . .there but for fortune. . . . . .

This Thought makes me weepy
I bet they are in the Bose room right now with all those glorious pieces...

They're rolling around on one of the hotel beds giddy as school girls and making snow angels in the pile of custom knives.

I'm not giddy, I got stuck building a deck while they get to have all the fun:grumpy: :grumpy: :( I've tried to get my schedule to coincide with this show for the last three years and it never works. I think I'll give them a call and ask them to change the date next year:rolleyes: :D Well I hope they're having a hell of a time, they sure deserve it after putting up with us!

Well. . . . .I'm not able to say who. . . .Blues. . . .but. . . .Blues. . . .someone. . . .Blues. . . . .was dressed. . . . .Blues. . . . .like that. . . . .Blues. . . .to a "t !" :D

I was thinkin' miltia camo for those two, but from what Gig said, you must be right, Ford.

I talked to Elliott yesterday and he did say he was hangin' out with a couple of scoundrel-types.

Egads! I'm here in Atlanta, just left the show - and could not find 'em! Anybody know their table number??

They have no table number. They are not makers or dealers. They are just a couple of folksy knuts.

Table number. Na, we were making snow angels out of slipjoints in the aisles.
Getting to spend time with Gig and Blues was the best part of the show for me with Geno Denning winning best fighter a close second. Got to also spend time with Kerry and Randy and a little with Ed and really enjoyed getting to see them also. Missed ya Rob. I hope as the years go by that many of us can meet at a show.

As far as knives.
Na, I can not give Blue's secret away, but I was able to sneak out of there with a few.
Richard had a real cool Dr. knife in black lip and his usual elegant work is all over this knife.
Won the right to buy a very solid and beautiful dog-leg jack in mammoth ivory by Joel.
Don Hansen's test slipjoint is a stunner (all his test knives were incredible as were Jason Knight's).
There is a new slipjoint maker out there folks. His name is Johnny Stout :D.
He had a peanut on his table last year that Danbo picked up and at that time I ordered a knife for this year.

For me that knife was a big surprise. Every body knows Johnny makes a fine knife from any aspect, but I was not expecting the quality I like at this stage of his slipjoint making. Just wanted to support the effort. I was dead wrong; the knife he made is as good as any multiblade in my collection from fit and finish to blade action Johnny hit this right dead center.

This is a nice one by Jack that I was lucky to pick up.

Just returned from my second foray. If you saw a frantic guy with checkbook in hand running up and down the aisles...it mighta been me.
Saw a nice barlow on Nowland's (sp?) table. I am already regretting my indecision.:(

Gus,

Great score on the Davenport, it was a pleasure to meet you. Will bring Vince with me next year and make a weekend out of it.

LOL, LOL, LOL Damn straight!. Mike I got the ultimate visual on this one. Thanks for that! I needed a hardy laugh this evening cause I am stuck here at home working the weekend instead of being their at Blade.

Me and you both SunnyD. I really hope to be there next year.

Gus, great haul as usual!

Culpepper scored some beauties as well.

I got a peak at a Bose Culpepper scored. Stunning knife. The four guys in the corner holding drawings (Tony, Reese, Joel and Richard) really out did themselves. I did not see one knife from any of them that I would not have been thrilled with.

You guys need to plan your trip with an early arrival on Thursday afternoon!
My first purchase this year ended a long time quest (Remington Dr. pattern in bone and in great condition). I have been looking for one for 15 years.

This one was clean inside and out, nice original patina, full blades with great action, honest worn bone with no cracks. The knife seems to have been carried a good while, used very little then put away.
