Hey guys,
I am probably going to drive down to blade show this weekend..

I just wanted to ask.. Would Friday be the best day to go?
I figured that would be the best day because the companies won't be sold out yet..
I want a microtech custom.. And I think I can only go on Friday.

How does it normally work at blade? Does microtech just open up on Friday and put all their knives out for sale until their gone?
Or do they introduce new knives day by day or something?
I am sorry for the dumb questions. I just want to make sure I don't drive down there for nothing lol! My gf would kill me! Haha

Sorry again and thanks for the info!!! I know I'm a newb with an expensive knife hobby...

Well I have never been but am going also, Friday and Saturday. Considering almost every production knife company plus tons of individual sellers and custom knife makers will be there I am sure they wont sell everything they have on Friday. So you should find something, or a hundred things, to spend your money on. I know I will.

Hahaha that is what I was thinking. Well I am assuming..
I will be broke by tomorrow night.
I am not sure if I will go on just friday or both days... Will have to decide that soon. But I do know one thing.. I will have no money left.
Im gonna have to take the girl shopping also.. The only way I could convince her to go to ATL lol

Or you could take her shopping before you go, then drive solo..and spend even MORE of your money.

The last time I went to Blade was about 5 years ago, but sales on Friday and Friday night for custom makers were pretty hot and heavy. There were some guys that didn't even show up much on Saturday because they had sold so much on Friday. The ProdCos that we saw were still fairly well stocked on Saturday, though. That's probably the biggest attendance day and they wanted to have a good sample of their lines available for drooling and groping.

Microtech being a production knife, I'd assume that they'll have a good bit of stuff still available on Saturday, if they even sell there at all. Some manufacturers don't sell at Blade. They leave that to their dealers that are there.

BTW, you can cross the highway from Blade via the skywalk and be right in the parking lot of a nice mall. Your GF should be able to shed a few dollars there without an effort.

Have a good time. The first trip's always the most memorable.

Microtech lays them out and says 1, 2, 3, GO and then the sales start happening. They are usually pretty busy.
If you don't get something you want; give me a call since I'll have some of their custom knives by Friday at noon or before. I get there Thursday night.
They will likely have knives available on Saturday and Sunday; however, they will likely be the more expensive items.

Well there likely be a special thread or forum set up for Blade show coverage? Just wondering. =)

Observations from a Blade Show vet: Dealers normally get first dibs on the knives of established makers and most of those deals are done before the doors open and the show starts. If you are searching for something rare or in ultra-high demand, communicate with the manufacturer/maker prior to the show(months not days). Most of the makers and manufacturers are great guys and will do their best to get you what you want. With many makers it is first come first serve. However, lotteries on the show floor have become very popular. A maker will give out raffle tickets or something similar. Those in possession of the winning numbers are given first right of refusal on knives in stock. Friday is a good day to do some serious shopping. The crowds are lighter and the selection is somewhat greater. I think you will find that five or six hours is not enough time to truly explore the wonders and sights of the show. - Good Luck

Thank you for the insight! I will be there on Friday. If I don't get the knife I want I'm calling Dave ^^

He's a great guy and always willing to help. But I hope these dealers don't buy them out before the doors open at 2:00pm. I want the expensive customs anyway.. So hopefully the more expensive ones will last a bit longer.
