S.

Did you go? If so then this is yet another reason for me to be jealous of you!

I am stuck here for my cousin's wedding. How blastedly inconsiderate of him to schedule the reciting of his nuptuals on this most sacred of weekends. The bastich! Well anything for family I suppose.

Ark,

Tonight is the Annual Feast of Raw Fish, Jerry H., Susan, Matt, Mario, Me, and whoever else we could drag [last year it was the Bram F. entourage] gorge on BAIT.

So, I could not make it this year...and, if that is not bad enough, I started getting a sinus infection yesterday and now I'm sitting here suffering like a fool.

Next year...next year...

I was going to just mail myself to the show in a box, but I found out it would cost more to mail myself then to just fly. I gotta drop some pounds.

Maybe that PC 158 comes in a really fancy box... I mean REALLY fancy...

I just got back from the show today. I saw a few balisongs there. First of all you had the assorted china cheapies, but not too many. I saw Benchmade's new models. They had this great powder coating on one of them that really gives you a good feel. Then there was a latchless model and a tanto. The tanto style was more of an Elishewitz than the kind on the 44. It looks much better. At one dealer were two Pacific Cutlery models. I believe it was the 68 and 69. They were both three inches, skeletonized handles, one had a tanto and the other had a weehawk that was more like the 45 style than the 42. I didn't inquire as to what the price was. The next balisong was very interesting. It was all stainless, no particular design on the handle except for a ruler. The blade said Ka-Bar which really got me interested. The guy there said it probably dates back to around 1910, but he didn't seem too knowledgable. The price was $175... and I was flat broke from buying an AFCK. I think Chuck might know something about it. Later there was a display case full of FHM's. They had mostly bone and wood inserts, brass bolsters, etc. There was a foot-long FHM in there too. Again, I didn't ask prices because I was broke. The last balisongs I saw were a couple of Benchmades. There was a 45, and two 30's. I didn't see the dealer with the International series, but I sure wish I did. By the time I was going to go see the Tachyon, I realized it was late and had to go without seeing it...

But I know someone will post pictures of it on here. Anyway, they didn't have all too many balisongs at the show, though I did see alot of people carrying the 42.

Is there going to be a Blade Show in Minnesota any time soon? I really want to go to one except, it has to be in this state.

While there were some grossly over-priced items, there were bargains to be had too. I did very, very well thank you.

I dont think there was a 45 there Rearic.. but email me if you still have that Rj or whatnot
smile.gif
then maybe we can chat. I didnt buy much of anything really.. just a snody and a kitchen knife.

It was fun to get the inside info from Benchmade though.. and rubbing elbows with De Asis, and making Collver sweat when bfett and I "figured out (??)" the super secret balisong decoder prototype thingemajic.. oh the passion.. so many protos and Benchmade booth was the closest to the door.

Sadly, Gollnick is more celebrity than I so he got the better deals
smile.gif

Lightfoot got my attention.. not the most charming guy but got character
smile.gif
. Blade was good to me last year.. bad on my wallet though so I am not complaining

Sold the R.J. Martin Kozuka and bought a Bali-Song Cutlery Stiletto. Almost Mint Condition, grind line is a bit off on one side...but adds to the human element of the knife I guess...it is very tight, someone loved it.

Got rid of alot of stuff in the past 45 days to get the last of the best there will ever be.

S,
I don't know what made him more nervous, that or the fact that there were 2 drooling bali fanatics with handy new BM knife cases so close to his protos, and so close to the door
smile.gif
. I must say though, he was quite proud of the Collver Clip-Point bowie
smile.gif
Not that I can blame him.

There certainly was a 45 and a 44 (I'm pretty sure I got a picture before the rude man chased me away (how do these people expect to sell things???). The fun thing was to hear the man at the next table lean over to this rude man and say, "Do you know who that was?"). Anyway, it was in a glass case. Sometimes, pictures through glass don't come out well. But, before getting shoed away, I did ask the price, $285.

For each or for both the 44 and 45??

Hmmm, there have been some rumors that the new prototype Bali-Song will be a kris blade, that would be extremely difficult to consistently produce though. For the rumor pop over to the BM Forum and look at the Blade Show previews.

Just after finding a NIB 69 for 200 bucks, i found a BM 35 for a mere 350!! and the guy didnt even know what it was, just kept telling me how old it was. i laughed and kept moving! there were deffinately a few uninformed ppl there.

Gollnick, do you know anything about the Ka-Bar balisong I saw? All stainless, ruler on the handle, "Ka-Bar" on the blade. THe guy said it probably dated to 1910, but he didn't seem very knowledgable. Price was $175. Any info?
