So, I was standing there, talking to Roger Massey, when some guy came up and interrupted us and said to Roger, "Sir, I believe this is your knife". Roger looks at the guy and says, "yes, but how did you get it". Turns out the guy works at the Arkansas museum and this is the big, fancy bowie that Roger donated awhile back. Turns out, they're closing the museum and giving everybody their donations back. Immediately, the wheels started turning in my head and I just HAD to have it! So, Roger and I worked something out.:D

Specs are: at least an 11" blade of 1084/15N20 Mosaic Damascus, with the clam shell, "S" guard and collar being Damascus, too. Handle is some presentation grade ironwood. Sheath is pretty nice, too. Typical Roger Massey; which is to say, I haven't found a flaw yet. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=447727&d=1402450264

Danbo great looking knife.

Did he mention what museum in Arkansas he worked and was closing?

Thanks, ryan

Thanks for sharing that with me in Atlanta, Danbo. That is one special piece! Glad you were there at the right time.

To be clear about one thing, the Historic Arkansas Museum In Little Rock is not closing.

Not closing.

It is possible the there is a mix up since there is another museum that is closing in Tennessee. Maybe that is the museum Roger's knife came from.

Makes sense Lin. I figured the LR museum was doing too good to close.

Nice knife, Dan-bro! Thanks for showing it to me there...

The National Knife Museum in the Smokey Mountain Knifeworks TN store has folded. The story has been in KnifeWorld and Blade. Although there is not very much detail, sounded like fraud and mismanagement brought it down. Some of the collection is going to two museums and some is being returned where possible.

There is no knife museum in AK. There is a collection of knives in the Historic Arkansas Museum in Little Rock. IRRC, the only knife museum left in the US is the American Milatary Edged Weaponry Museum in Intercourse PA. Well worth the visit...go see the sterile Randall knife made for the CIA, Richtigs galore...

Well, Hell. I just know that somebody came up and gave Roger this bowie back, that he had donated to some museum. ??? ;) Maybe I should call Roger.

That's an extremely nice Bowie Danbo, thanks for sharing it with me.
You were definitely in the right place at the right time.

That's a heck of a score Danbo, beautiful bowie. Roger is a first rate maker and a first rate person. Congrats!
