As I was cruising the setup for the show thursday I walked past Tim Brittons table and fell in love with this little stag slippie. I talked myself out of it and continued my quest for stag. However Friday morning all resolution broke as I rushed back to his table before anyone else could snatch the knife up. I have fell to the dark side, Custom Bowie maker buying custom slippies:)!

That's a beauty, Craig.

I have come very close to buying one of Tim's folders. Can't beat the price and I sure can't afford one of mine ;)

Cool little knife. What is that pattern called?

That was a real good snag - I really like Tim's work and would happily have snagged that myself.

That is a beautiful little slippie! CONGRATS!! I like Tim's work a whole lot.

Craig let me hold this knife...only because I bought a bowie from him..:D I thought about busting out in a run...but Craig had another Bowie left on his table and it was perfect balanced...It looked like a thrower...so I handed it back to him reluctantly..

Very nice peice..and this is coming from a guy who doesn't do much with slippies...

Good taste on that Britton, Craig.

I'm waiting on the postman to round trip one from Tim, to Jim Small, to me. Post it up when it arrives.

It's a real special endorsement of a maker's work when other top makers are buying his knives.

NOW, you're talkin'. I just shot a pearl lockback straight from Tim to me to his client. Had the garden variety Jim Small engraving. That is to say, deep relief scrolls, with gold buried in there. :D

Cool little knife. Tim's new folder direction is taking off like a bottle rocket!

It's over for you now Craig:D Slipjoints are and addictive substance. Maybe you ought to make a few;)

All I can say is good for you buddy!
If yer in this biz and don't get off on it from time to time, what the hell's the point?
Good for you!

BIG QUESTION....is it an addiction ? When ABS Mastersmiths like Don Hanson and John White and Bert Gaston are enjoying my knives....the grit in my nostrils and burnt fingers becomes much less uncomfortable. I now have a John White bowie that is one of my treasures....finally broke through something Blackie Collins said to me long ago....."you gotta make up your mind whether you are a maker or a collector" ! I'm gonna be both, especially when I make new friends like John White with the deal.
One of my mentors shared that "we should reinvent ourselves from time to time". With the help and support of some awesome friends and collectors and makers....I am doing just that. Gotta say thanks to Jim Small for some awesome engraving and Coop for some terrific photography. They can make even my humble efforts look great !
This is beginning to feel like I oughta thank my mom and my coach..... Truth is that I am still in semi-shock from the BLADE show. Had a chance to share with Mike Zcherny. I had the pleasure of signing off on his Knifemakers Guild application some years back....and now he is Tony Bose Junior ! Bill Rupel and I got to know each other and his work just keeps getting better....
Want to thank everyone who reads this.....for helping to break the ancient image that allowed prominent knifemakers to be antisocial jerks ! lots of us are having fun again and enjoying some awesome fellowship. I won't be on the forums chatting all that often, so I want to say thanks....once again to all for helping us have so much fun !!

it's so important to KEEP IT REAL:D
Feed that passion, boyz!

Said I'd post this puppy up when it made it's trip from Tim's, to Jim Small for engraving, and on to me. Spent what would have been a boring half hour in my Dr's waiting room this morning examining the knife, and admiring that tiny engraving with the gold flower.

4" Tim Britton Stag Bullitt, Jim Small engraver. Ain't it cute.

Very nice piece John - that little touch of gold in the engraving really looks great.
