Is Blade Show West moving to Portland, Oregan? I hope not. I look forward to the September show in Southern California Thanks.

I think so, at least for this year. The organizers want other people to have a chance at going to the show.

It is most definitely being held in Portland. The dates are Sept. 30th to Oct 2nd. I think the plans are to make this a permanent move, but I could be wrong.

That area is the knife making capital of the west.Several companies with in a days drive.

Per Blade magazine, June 2005 issue page 10, moving Blade Show West to Portland. First show in Portland: Airport Holiday Inn & Conference Center and the dates are Sept. 30, Oct. 1 & 2 (Per Mary Lutz email 5-17-05). Contact Mary.Lutz@fwpubs.com, Mary Lutz 877-746-9757.

After show hours tours of local knifemakers could include: Al Mar, Benchmade, Coast, Columbia River, Foster, Gerber, Kershaw, Leatherman, Lone Wolf and William Henry. I hope this becomes a reality.

All the best,

The dates have been changed. The ones I gave in my post above are the latest dates provided on the Blade website and in the July issue of Blade magazine.

As a Portland resident, I'm thrilled that it's moving here . . but the Airport Holiday Inn & Conference Center? Ugh. Unless it has been renovated in the last 3 years, that's one of the worst hotels around. I took the Oregon Bar exam there in 2002 and it was depressing (ok, maybe the 48 hours of sleep deprived terror had something to do with my impression - but still).

It would be great if they moved it to the new convention center down town. It's nice, clean, huge and right next to the free light rail system. Maybe next year . . .

Hey Brew

I think they renovated = I've stayed there the last 3 years when coming back from the Eugene show, and it was an awesome hotel. Great rooms, and even better service.
