hey all. Have some old Esee fixed blades. One has a slight of surface rust on he blade. I keep it strapped to my quad. And forgot to clean and dry it after a ride. There are some spots on the cutting edge that have surface rust. I used some wd40 and it took most of it off but there are some black spots on the edge. Will simply resharpening the blade cure it?

Thanks
Brian.

yep. use and sharpening will eventually remove stained steel. dont worry bit of surface stains isnt an issue.

I decided to clean my folder, I stripped off the scales and found some light rust, I got some aluminium foil and rolled it into a ball and then rubbed the rust and within a few seconds the rust was gone, I found some rust deep inside the knife, so i flattened the foil and forced it inside and within seconds it was gone, one the knife was clean i submerged it in some mineral oil so the inside surfaces got a coating, hopefully this will reduce the chance of rust returning.

I read a story of a guy that lived in an high humidity area, his knife could go rusty over night on his night stand, So he started to put his knife in a container of mineral oil when he came from work, you could leave it there till next morning, let the excess oil drain from the knife and a quick dry with a cloth and you are ready for work.
