:( This should probably be in the W&C thread but just curious as to how many of us have mourned a lost, stolen, or otherwise unwillingly retired blade. I lost a Gerber Guardian Backup a few years back to the only thief in the Marine Corps (everyone else is trying to get their gear back), and was curious as to what everyone's reaction to such an event was and what they had lost. Still to this day when I see a Guardian, the whimsical feeling of holding that blade and the outrage at it's theft still stings. :grumpy: WHO'S WITH ME?!?!?

I'm afraid not me. As much as I love my knives, they are just things and can be replaced. My friends and family however, are another matter.

I'm still cheesed off about a Puma Gamewarden with the second skinning blade that was stolen off my bureau back in '75 by a "friend" shortly before he left for basic training in the army and I never saw him again. Also had a Western bow hunter's combo stolen out of my ruck in Montana in the early seventies. I've got a long memory.

I can't read any posts about Spyderco Paramilitaries right now. Mine fell out of my pocket while riding my bike a few weeks ago. I really liked that knife. :(

I'm with kamkazmoto on this one, while I really like my blades, I can always get a new one if one's lost. However if one gets stolen, I'm more likely to remember the act of stealing than the blade that was taken.

Ditto for me.
Now my P7 on the other hand- ;)

:footinmou Geez fellas, I wasn't saying I needed a moral lesson on the triviality of material possessions; I was just saying that sometimes I kind of get sentimental about losing a good blade. Man you guys are making me feel like a jerk! I mean I miss lost family members and friends too, I was just seeing if anyone else got a little mournful over a lost blade; Blades and family are on a FAR different scale.

I don't think anyone meant any harm, I certainly didn't. I appologize if it seemed so. I just think a lot of guys have come to the realization that if you use it, your damn bound to end up losing or breaking one someday. I guess if I lost or had stolen one of my more expensive knives, I 'd just be pissed at myself for letting it happen. In the end, I'd just replace it with something else and move on.

Now if I ever lost my P7

Happy collecting,
John...

John...

If I offended I apologize, I didn't mean to but I have some friends that are hurting right now and they tend to take over my thought process. Sorry :(

No offense taken and I'm very sorry to hear that. Off subject, what's the matter, are they ok (if you don't mind my asking)? No offense was taken at all...I guess it's kind of hard to judge mannerisms and mood by the written word isn't it? All's Well! :) Again I'm very sorry to hear of your burden. :(

Funny that you mention a Guardian.

I used to sell at shows as a hobby more than anything else.
The only knife I have lost or had stolen was a Gardian with the Loveless etch any time I see the ad for Seto in Japan with a pic of the same knife, I kinda cringe. :D. (Trust me I do not get that attached to things.)

How anyone enjoy a stolen knife is beyond explanation for me. I just do not see how a person can use (or look at for that matter) a knife that they stole.

Lost a stag handled German folding hunter that belonged to my grandmother, must have slipped off my pocket.

Schrade Sharpfinger that was a Christmas present from my Mother, lost when moving to another city.

Boker 6 bladed camper, lost when moving to new house.

Buck 112, stolen when mugged by a gang of teenagers (scary experience).

Lost Spyderco Delica, apparently fell off in a restaurant but went back and couldn´t find it.
