When did Buck knivs use the blade stamp that is circular and says

Buck
110
USA
Knives

The 110 and the USA are in a circle with Buck on top and Knives at the bottom. Is this a SP/LE blade stamp or was there a time where this type of stamp was used. I ask because I saw one, but the 110 didn't look like it was pre 80's and deffinately not pre 70's/60's?????

Is the blade polished and have Alfred C. Buck's signature on it? If so, that would be the Founders Edition that came out in 2007 (I believe) in a metal tin and was sold at WalMart. They may not have had an exclusive on it, but that's where most of them went. There were also hundreds sold later by sellers on eBay and other sites.

You will also see custom knives with that stamp because they could be had for cheap and then become a fancy knife with new handles and a little file work.

The ugly writing on the blade polished off quickly and easily to leave a mirror finish.

The unusual stamp lacking a date gave it even more of a custom look.

:)

Once Buck had fulfilled the Wal-Mart contract there were many more blades with that stamping on it as 112's so those were sold to dealers . Many people bought them and that was the first time that stamping was used . I liked Alfred's signature on them . Larry wrote about this stamping in the Dec. 2007 issue . DM

So there were/are 112's with that stamp? I've never seen one.

When you say "Dec. 2007 issue" were you referring to the BCCI newsletter? I can't find it in there.

Here you go, 2006 Founder's Edition 112.

 Thanks! That jogged my memory and I lied (forgot actually) when I said I'd never seen one. I just went to my stash and found that I do have one of those. :)

I like the circular, undated 110 stamp.

No doubt.....in 20 years or so, Buck enthusiasts will be arguing about the knives found with that odd stamp.

Then there will probably be a few of them that some smart-alec decided to add a dot.....thus further mystifying the brotherhood.

:D

Thanks, Bear it was in 2006 . I'm not near my notes so, walking on crutches . That stamp or near it then became the BCCI stamp . I'm thinking we can see a time line progression here with this configured stamp . DM
