What's the blade forums opinions on blade steels?

I have recently acquired 2 ZT's with Elmax (551 & 801) and a Kershaw with ZDP-189 (Ruby) and a Kershaw with ATS-34 (1410). Also have several Kershaw "composite" blades xxxx/D2 type.

What's your favorite steel(s) and why?

And where can I learned more - you know with a "compare and contrast" table

For a daily user, Aus-8, I like the edge I can get and how easy it is to maintain....Also am a fan of ZDP-189 and H1(SE). But in my heart it will always be a carbon steel.

in general, people here seem to love m390 but your climate, use for the knife and sharpening methods may make you lean elsewhere... also like anything else there are prices associated that may not be worth the steel upgrades from one to the next and trade offs between corrosion resistance, toughness and hardness.
