What is the blade steel used in these models? I am rather impressed with them. The Ecco series are well executed double liner locks for the money.

on the ones made in japan,it should be AUS 6A.(from Bucks Site}the ones made in El Cajon would most likely be 420 hc( their standard steel}You are right, great little knife for the money:) There is another thread a page or so back as to the story of why they are now made in USA

Hey thinking about getting a "ecco". Are they easy to open? And are they (2.5) big? Like in ones pocket?

Hi there.
IMO the ECCO is harder to open one handed than, say the Odyssey.I use it as a slow one hand opener and great feel for one hand closing. In my jeans, I see the lump more than feel it there. The biggest I pocket carry (personal preference) is the small HTA Lightning. The only noticed difference between the contract version and USA is the liner is slightly tighter.:)
take care guy
