which is your favorite blade steel and why
mine right now is 3v i can clean and butcher de bone a deer in the field and i stays sharp. also easy to sharpen.
my s30v fall of the razor sharp edge to quick to be a called super steel and are hard for me to get hair whittling sharp again.
also have 204p and m390 but i dont hunt with them they seem to be great with tasks around the house and last and last.

My current favorite steel is 10V.
I have been using it in a .065" thickness and it makes an incredibly efficient cutting knife that literally holds an edge like no other.
I like to run them hard and grind them thin.

M390 and equivalents like CTS-204P, as well as Elmax.

Humidity in Hawaii is murder, and my sweat is especially acidic. High stain resistance is a must for any daily carry. These steels also have great edge retention and the clean powder metallurgy lets it take a razor sharp edge easily. I don't have much need for toughness, so that's something that's not a consideration for my steels.

CPM 3v and CPM M4. 3V is easy to sharpen in the field and retains an edge. I'm with ginochip in that S30V loses it edge too quickly for me. M4 holds that razor edge for way longer for me, and easy to strop back into sharpness.

How is field sharpening 10V Big Chris?

ohhhh i forgot my m4 its a small fixed blade that i edc a little but havent really put it through a work out maybe i will try it out and see.
whats the report on s90v some new spyderco are coming out that i might have to snag for a new knife or the mantra in m4 so many to buy i am going to be broke lolol

8cr13mov sounds crazy right? Well I have tried higher quality benchmades 154cm and a few other steels but no matter what I do I'm just so rough on knives that I'll drop it and mess up edge or all the cardboard or dry wall I cut with it has dulled many steels nearly as fast which is why I like 8cr13mov because I can get a working edge back on it using whatever is near me when I'm working at a house that isn't mine and have learned I can use a curb to get a working edge on it without wasting too much time.
