My guess is Admiral will ask to charge you for the full length of shear. That has been my understanding and I do see their reason for such. It is not likely to shear off a length shorther than plate length. From a buisiness view, to do so is to take one step forward and two backward. It has been my experience that the shear will be about 6 foot, give maybe another foot. An oppurtunity if you do not require much length is to ask for a 'drop' piece. You may have to wait for that. A drop piece is that end cut off which may not be delivered to the customer, depending on customer length specification or defect at end of plate. ToolandDie can give you 5 inch widths but not, as I find so far, in 10XX steels.
