what are all the blade styles out there and what are the definitions? I know the tanto but what's the differance between a drop point and a spear point? what defines a sheeps foot or wharnie? I am guessing there are a bunch I am missing but I was wondering if there is someplace to find a list or something?

At the risk of sounding mean, which is NOT my intent, have you done a search for this subject? it comes up once a week or two.

it must bog down the search feature. when I tried the page looks like it is loading but then nothing comes up. I am on a cable connection so thats not the problem. I looked back about 10 pages in the history but found only a couple threads on sheep foots (feet?) and wharnies.

Yeah i've had trouble trying to use the search function as well when trying to find the difference between sabre, flat, chisel, etc grinds. So i had to make my own thread to get pointed to the answers

Anyone know of a thread where they explain what each blade type excels at? That way I can tailor my next knife purchase towards what I'll actually be using it for.

I think maybe what I am looking for might not exist in one place on here. Maybe a book? I just want someone to define all the types of blades and grounds and the like. For that matter a dictionary of blade trems would be good... is there one out there?

If you had clicked the link I had, THAT showed the search results that I found on the subject here.

One cannot direct-link to search result pages on BFC, sorry TKC!

It may still work for you because it's cached for you.
