I have a 422 Bucklite that was factory assembled with a 112X blade. There have been 3 recent auctions on ebay for 424 Bucklites with 501 blades. Previous threads have discussed blade substitutions for 110/560/426 models. How common is it for Buck to substitute blades between compatible models?

It is not as common these days as it was a few years back. I believe there are over 20 variations of the 505 style blade and hence, any combination of those styles can be found. Every now and then a collector might find a 110 with a custom blade. Maybe the factory found a tray of the custom stamped 110 blades and decided to use them up in standard product. I know of some people who center their whole knife collections around finding every possible combination!
