I have a 581 with satin blade and love it so much I use the snot out of it!
Long story short.....put a huge chip in the blade when I dropped it at work. UGH!!!
Called Micah, my favorite CS chick, and enquired about replacing my blade with a black one. She explained the procedure and I sent it in.
Original blade favored the clip side and could have been a bit sharper out of the box. I let them know my concerns with a note.
It came home last night and all I can say is HOLY SPIT!! Perfectly centered and stupid shaving sharp with a beautiful edge! They replaced O springs and tuned her up better than new!
$40 very well spent and another great experience with BM CS!

Always good to hear positive feedback. The black blade looks great...
My wife ordered a new pink 556 Mini Griptilian and it showed up yesterday. Of course I had to check it out :D
The blade is perfectly centered, and it is without a doubt the smoothest BM I have ever seen out of the box...
I think it is a little smoother than my Cabelas Mini that I took apart and polished the washers. Blade tension is perfect too..

Hey Mike!
After reading about all the BM horrific grinds, broken Omega springs, terrible blade play and dull edges out of the box.....I've seen none of this in the last 10 I bought.....I'm extremely glad to see, and post, the great service and comms!
The end product is pretty awesome too!! Wish I could describe properly how sharp this bad girl is!
Sending a 943 in next for a swap....

There has been a lot of negative feedback for the issues you mentioned, and it is good to discuss the negatives as well as the positives. Not saying those things haven't happened to others, but I guess I've been lucky with BM Axis knives, because I have yet to have an issue with them. I've had a few that weren't as sharp as I thought they should be, but that is an easy fix.

I think those of us that have been using BM's for quite a few years, understand what you are saying about the sharpness. That was how they were back in the early days.
Hopefully your experience with your 943 is equally positive...
