Just got an email back from blade tech, who reckon they only sell kydex now (no concealex)...is this a porky pie to deceive gullible Aussies? :(

I just spoke with Brian this afternoon. He has told me in the past that all of the patterns are now Kydex, BUT the carbon fiber pattern is still Concealex.

RW,

That's funny, because I ordered from Brian last week and was told that the CF pattern is in Kydex now. OK, Blade-Tech, which is it???

He said the reason for going with Kydex across the board was due to supply problems. I guess the little bit of Concealex I have left will be all there is for awhile.

Brian also said that they can get the same grain pattern from Kydex that they can from Cocealex, I'll let you know hopefully by tomorrow, as my shipment should be here any day.

It may just be that they have a bit of CF Concealex in stock but will not be ordering any more? Beats me.

I bit the bullet and rang 'em...no more concealex but plenty of CF pattern kydex :)

Ferret, how dare you! Go straight to the source and get the facts! Just when we were having sooo much fun with the rumor mill. :D
Thanks.

Well, I got my order today. The CF pattern is DEFINITELY Kydex. A lot of people say you can't tell the difference, but it is obvious to me.

The regular Black sheets I received are also Kydex, but with a slightly grainier pattern than normal Kydex. They are trying to simulate the Concealex look/feel. Close, but no cigar :(

Oh well, I guess its either start using Kydex again or trying to find a new supplier of Boltron or whatever it's called.

I have to laugh at some of these kydex conversations - folks, did you know that "Kydex" sheet is made in 10 different textures, and 24 different grades? You can be comparing apples to oranges unless you say what KIND of kydex

try going to

to get an idea

Charles,

I believe the Kydex we are all used to using is called "100". The point is not that the Kydex is not usable, it is that many people like the Concealex better for a number of reasons. There are proponents for both sides, and there have been heated discussions about it.

And as far as all of the different types of Kydex, while that might be true, it is obvious that a lot of people liked the grain pattern of the Concealex more, which is the reason Blade-Tech is actively trying to get the same pattern in Kydex.

I wonder if the change was due to legal wrangeling...

I know Blade-Tech was going into manufacturing of Concealex at the same time other parties told me of lawsuits over the formula of Kydex/Concealex...Looks like Blade-Tech lost? Or is this temporary I wonder...

It's a real shame if I can't get Concealex anymore...I should have stocked up...I have no trouble getting Kydex from the local plastic supplier, but I was happier with the way Concealex molded and handled at temperature...
