Just arrived this afternoon.

Quick first thoughts:

I like the smallish size. Blade is ground well, shaving sharp. Nice high flat grind. The G-10 finish is grippy, but not too agressive. Fully nested liners lend a solid feel. The clip is a bit too bulky- thin, but the bends in it make it stick up pretty far. Lock is solid. Open/close action is smooth. Handle and blade notched generously for all sorts of secure grip positions.

Blade is not centered when closed. This bugs me. Two full break-downs and re-assemblies have not fixed it. However, I think I know what the issue is and will try to resolve it later on in the week when I have more time. This is a bigger deal on a knife like this that uses a thumb hole, as your thumb side- loads the blade as you open it- and can push the blade up against the liner. Not so good.

Finish is a little rougher than I would have liked for the price in two particular places. Blade hole cut-out is really rough on the inner surfaces (obvious), and the two backspacer posts look unfinished and as if cut from scrap.

I want to like it, but so far it's been a bit of a let-down. I'll use it some and attempt to re-center the blade properly, see how I feel about it in a week or so. I'd really rather not send yet another new knife back to the manufacturer this month. :(

Hey bud...looks like you have the knife buying bug again.

I agree on the clip. I could tell from the website they could have done better on the clip. Needs to be set for deeper carry and too long and bulky for a small folder. How would it be if you took the clip off for an in the pocket carry?

Rest looks good to me.

BTW...have you ever tried the open pressure method for bladecentering instead of taking it apart. That is where with the knife open you apply pressure at the blade pivot by holding the blade with one hand and the handle with the other and pushing one way or the other. Kind of like you are trying to break it in half at the pivot...but you don't need to push hard. Just figure out which way will move the blade back to center when closed. Hard to explain but works on most knives like this.

Be good...JT

Hey JT-

Thanks for the tip. Tried that too, but it always seems to go back to the offset position after a single cycling.

The lanyard tube is oddly tapered into the liners, and it makes re-assembly really difficult. You really have to force it into the liners on either side and I think it's binding or bowing the assembly. Hard to explain, but that's my hunch. I'm going to fiddle with it some more.

Clip's off now. Much better. Sitting here in my office it's unnoticeable in my pocket. More comfortable to use as well.

Hmmm...that method has worked on productions and customs that I have tried it on. Would have thought it would have centered that baby right up.

I thought that might be a great candidate for taking the clip off and make a nice little pocket folder.

The bladecentering would be a bit dissapointing to me too, if I couldn't cure it. Good luck.

Thank you for the review. I've had my eye on that one this helps. Please give us a one week or so update. Thanks!

Any updates? This knife is on my shortlist, but I would like more info.

Hey Dennis-

Well, I was able to fix the blade centering issue by torqueing the hell out of it as JT suggested. It took a LOT more force than I thought it would, but it worked.

Ultimately though, I just never fell in love with it like I thought I would. Just seemed too rough here and there. Nothing major that would detract from performance, but overall I felt it was lacking in terms of fit and finish. I eBay'd it last week.

Though I'm pretty sure mine was one of the first, got it as soon as they hit the Blade-Tech site.

Also. I couldn't get used to tossing it loose in my pocket. I prefer a clip typically, but the one on the Ganyana is one of the worst clips I've ever encountered. It's really obtrusive in the hand. In dress pants it was ok, light enough to just float around in-pocket, but not so good for weekend carry in jeans where I'd typically use the clip.

I dunno. It was ok. I really liked the design, but I don't feel mine was quite worth the asking price. YMMV, of course.

I appreciate the feedback. My next knife will be the ganyana or the Ocelot. Just trying to decide which one. I wish I could handle them both before deciding.

(not to hyjack)

Hey Shootist16, i was all fired up over the Ganyana but backed off. I went with the Ocelot. That is one sweet knife. I do like the flat grind on the Blade Tech though.:grumpy:

Thanks for the follow-up Firebat.
