I like the looks of the Blade-Tech Ganyana - S30V steel G-10 handles. What do you folks think about the design, construction, and utility of the knife?

I handled one at a knife show recently, and I opened and closed the knife six times. The liner lock did not engage 4 out of the six. I set it back down and walked away. Maybe a fluke knife, but was not willing to try it. The knife itself did not live up to my expectations from all that I saw on the web about it. It felt cheap for the money. My griptilian was ten times more smooth, and much more stronger. The axis lock has never failed me, and I feel very comfortable putting it through some hard use.

Blade-Tech does have excellent customer service if you do ever have a problem. As for the Ganyana I can't comment as that is the only Blade Tech knife I haven't handled, the PH and Mouse are excellent knives though.

I looked at one about 2 months ago at a local shop. I really liked the way it felt... Might be a little smaller that some are used to though.

We make all of our knives at Blade-Tech with very close tolerances in the blade "ramp" and liner-lock engagement area. This gives maximum longevity to the wear factor on the lock. You more than likely grabbed one that just needed to be opened a little harder "whacked open" one good time to remove a possible burr on the blade "ramp" left from machining. We spine whack test every knife once after assembly and again before shipping to each customer, so once the liner- lock engages, it is not likely to fail.

i had a wegner. it was downright ugly, but it was a great knife.

No Ganyana, but I have a Rijbak that is a great folder. Fit/finish, lockup, and materials are all top notch!!:D:thumbup:

I have one that is in my EDC rotation. Beefy little knife. The profile and finger grooves make for good purchase when caping or cleaning game (use mine mostly when hunting). Blade is fairly thick, so no concern about tip breakage when caping. I like it and continue to use.

Only complaints... it's hard to disengage the liner when closing the knife (not worried this will close accidentally in use).

I really like this knife. The blade is a little thick but that makes it really strong. When I got the knife the liner lock didn't engage the blade hardly at all. Intriguingly though I had a lot of trouble disengaging it. So, I took it apart and slowly started filling little by little the liner lock back. All the while putting it back together to see when it got perfect. I also filed down the G10 across from the lock so I could push it over easier. I love it now!

i traded a large limited edition spyderco for the ganyana.
didn't use the spyderco too big . the ganyana is a great knife for all sorts of daily use.
couldn't be happier. i did however remove the clip, not user friendly for my personal taste. drop it in the pocket and go. don't really know it's there.
the lock did the same STICKING when i got it. i washed it with soap and water and oiled it with 3-1 oil. no more stick. opens and closes with precision now. I WON'T BE TRADING THIS ONE!
