blade tech mouse or mini grip??????????

I have no experience with either of these models in particular, I happen to favor Bladetech designs, feel, fit and finish. IMHO:thumbup:

The older version of the Mouse made by Spyderco was nice. They are difficult to find these days. I believe it had a titanium handle instead of the current Blade-tech offerings. The blade shape was the same.

I think it will depend on what you want it for- and what is important to you. Both seem like excellent choices.

The G-10 version of the mouse is roughly equal to the mini-grip in price.

With the mouse, you get an upgrade to S30V from 154CM, and an upgrade from the FRN-like handle on the Benchmade to G-10. I have never handled one, so can't say much more about it.

With the mini-grip, you get what I think is a more useful blade length in a lightweight package, and you get the axis lock. While the downgrades in handle material and steel are worth noting, I think the difference would be minor in terms of performance improvement. I do have a mini-grip that I like a lot, I have medium sized hands and I don't find the handle too small.

Overall I'd just go for the design that appeals to you most.

I think it depends on what your use is, as they seem to be aimed at different uses. I'd almost think of the Mouse as a light duty knife while the Mini Grip is more useable for all-round applications. If I were to pick only one for EDC, I'd pick the Benchmade.

A bit lighter in weight and priced right, I prefer the Mouse Lite (440C) with checkered FRN handles. For my purposes it serves as a backup or for light chores where you don' t need to produce your primary (larger) blade. I carry it without the clip in a locked open position while sitting nicely in a kydex neck/ pocket sheath. Or folded in my vest/ jacket/ coat pocket. For a rather small folder, it still affords a good hold and has a very useful blade shape. The odd shaped thumbhole allows for a relatively easy one hand opening. Much more so than almost any thumbstud folder in its size/ range.

the mouse is tiny.

That's was my first thought on reading this thread as well. I looked at getting a Mouse a while back, but decided against it because of the size and form factor. As Steven Andrews said, the Mini Grip is just a much more usable size an shape--notably the 3" blade compared to the 1 1/2" blade on the Mouse!
