I'm interested in purchasing the Pro-Hunter knives from Blade-Tech. Anyone here have one? You think there are better knives out there for the price? And where's the best site to buy them from?

I haven't used the USA made Blade Techs, but I've heard nothing but good things about them. I have been EDC'ing a Pro Hunter Lite at work for about 2 years now. I can't think of a better folder for around $50. Tough FRN slabs, dual steel liners, 440C blade (ground perfectly), it's a good user. The one I have was made in Seki Japan, I don't know how the Taiwan versions are. If they're anything like the Seki version, they are well worth the money.

I am biased because Blade Tech is located a few miles to the South of me. I bought one of the first pro-hunters to have DLC-coated blade. The main thing I like about it is its toughness and ruggedness. Blade opening is not at all smooth, which would be my only complaint about the knife. The company owner does a lot of hunting and uses his knives with the idea of seeing what he can do to make them fail, which I like.

It is not overly heavy at 4.3 ounces, but will hold up to almost anything you can throw at it.

I have a pro hunter, and it's a really great knife. It was really well thought out by a guy who actually uses knives. Very light weight, but very strong, excellent flat ground blade and useful blade shape, great handle shape. Its a whole lot of knife for the money. Mine opens very smoothly. My only complaints? The handle is pretty thin, so when you really bear down (bare down?) it's not super comfortable in your hand. But that's only under an unusual amount of force. And the little grip grooves up at the front of the blade make for a bit of extra cleaning. But really, if you want a very useful and very lightweight field (or city) knife, this one won't disappoint.

I've got a Seki-made Pro-Hunter Lite. Excellent fit and finish, miraculously sharp out of the clamshell. I also have a Rijbak, I only bring that up because my first Rijbak had a few issues which I mentioned recently on another thread about that model. None of the issues were too serious and I wasn't really complaining, just making observations. Well, within hours of posting Mike from Bladetech posted and asked me to contact him about it. Within a little over a week, I had a brand new Rijbak in my possession... I was pretty impressed by that customer service. Just my $0.02, FWIW.

I carried a Pro-Hunter off and of for about a year. Knife was super thin and very light. Even though it was a big knife, it didn't carry like one. Held a very sharp edge also. Great Knife.
