Has anyone ever heard of the blade tech ULU ? It's a liner lock folder but the blade can move into a position where the knife becomes an ulu. It seams cool, but the company doesn't sound that reliable and I have never heard of the knife anywhere else. If anyone has owned one or any knives from "Blade Tech" I would love some insight.

I thought about getting one, but in the pictures it looks like the handle is so close to the blade edge in the ulu configuration that I couldn't imagine how it could be a useful slicer/chopper without the handle or my fingers getting in the way of the material. I am also interested in hearing from someone who has one

I can tell you that Blade Tech is a very reliable company. Their knives are first class all the way. But the U.L.U. may be an experimental model, something they've used in the field that didn't click with a lot of buyers.

They are well-known for their holsters, for developing and marketing the Tek-Lok, and for designing what was originally the Spyderco-produced Wegner folding knives, which they make for themselves now.

I do not own a bladetech ulu, I am thinking about it too. I do however own two bladetech ganyanas, and they are very well made, good early lockup, decent grinds, razor sharp out of the box, awesome design, smooth deployment. Bladetech is a little known and underrated knife maker. One of there knives is made by Italian maker fox cutlery, which is a commitment to quality. The ulu looks rather usefull, I can't wait to see a review from someone who owned one.

The ulu is on my buy list. I have the fox usa 2lu and love it. I'm actually surprised how useful it is.

Wow, right off the bat that was a lot of good responses in a short period of time :)

The 2lu looks really cool, I had never heard of it before. It's definitely in my too buy list for when I have more money. I love unique designs, opening mechanisms and styles.

I was also completely oblivious to the fact that blade tech made the tek-lok, I had no idea!(the name probably SHOULD have given it away) interesting stuff.

Fullmonte looks like you have a full crowd waiting for a review if you get one ;)

Oh dear. I will probably order one next week? In the mean time here are a few 2lu pics.

I just bought the orange handled model. It did come in one of those cheap plastic fold and snap packages and came with a small LED key ring flashlight. I have not used the knife, but have carried it a little on a paracord lanyard. It has a belt clip and it is a bit heavy. The scales are rubber coated and are "sticky" as you would imagine. They catch the hairs on you fingers when reaching in the pocket and catch the pocket when placing in pocket. I still like the knife though. Its different and I like different.......Rory

Fullmonte, thanks for putting one on my wish list.

Nope but now I want that one also.

This thread was expensive for me.
