I was polishing my MS khuk using an electric buffing wheel and, through carelessness, let the knife get yanked out of my hands. Fortunately, I didn't get seriously cut, but the khuk's cutting edge got nicked pretty badly. I would like to file the blade down far enough to remove the nick, but I know nothing about blade tempering and was wondering how much metal I could safely take off without going beyond the blade's hard zone. Anyone got any ideas about this?
By the way, I've been using electric bench tools, including the buffer, for many years. The point being that, regardless of expereience, a person can never be too careful. It's incredible how a split second of carelessness can instantly cause things to get out of control.
