Well folks, Blade Texas is about a month away. Who's coming, and what are you bringing?

I’m still kicking around the idea of going but only as a looksie loo. Gotta shit or get off the pot.

This is going to be epic. I will stop by and say hello. Your table looked awesome last year.

Sounds good, Mike!

My table will not be crowded with knives this year, but I'll have some big ones. The Battleship Texas knife is almost done, and I have a nice engraved piece from previous shows. I'll have some of my production White Rivers and a few other one off's. My brother Travis will have a few at my table as well.

Here's a decent phone pic of my Battleship Texas knife. It's headed to Cooper next week for a glamour shot.

Here's a link to the WIP thread I did on the knife.

Is this the former ICCE show? Is it still a Guild ABS sanctioned event?

Yes and no. The Blade Show company bought out what was the ICCE show after a couple of years in Fort Worth. Both the Guild and the ABS will be heavily represented. I know the Guild is having a members meeting, but that the "official" business meeting will be at Blade in Atlanta. Neither organization has a part in the show's ownership, management, etc.

Post-show recap. There was a hail storm and a few tornados in the area Thursday evening during check in, followed by a pretty strong cold front. After a week in the 70's and 80's, Friday morning was about 35 and the highs never got much more than 45.

The Ft Worth Convention Center is a good venue. Parking is typical expensive city parking, but there are two garages close by. Several hotels and many restaurants within walking distance.

Crowds were heavy the first half of both days, substantially lighter in the late part of the day. Friday morning the line to get in was all the way down the lobby and then circled back again to the door.

I think more than usual some heavy hitters and a few purveyors bought big Friday morning. The usual suspects like Ruple and some of the Cartel sold out quickly. I heard of some other sellouts that have good product and a good reputation but don't fit the typical superstar category, like James Helm and new Guild Voting Member Matt Gaskill. Many of the top ABS guys sold fairly well, coming in with 7-10 knives and leaving with 2-3. Some of the top Guild guys did very well also, including me, Gary Langley, Princton Wong and others. My big battleship piece sold. There were plenty of folks who sold a few, and not many who didn't sell any. That said, the guy behind me sold only one small one, and my brother sold more in his handmade jewelry than he did in knives.

Thanks again to Alicia, Henry, Woody, Melissa and the others who worked to put the show together.

Production-wise White River said they had a good show. I didn't talk to too many folks, as it was too busy to want to leave the table.

Damn, went last year, weather was ok, was supposed to go hog hunting south a few hours but plans went further south lol. Anyway the day we were supposed to be hunting a huge tornado came through, right across property we would’ve been hunting on, skeet hog hunt missed sadly lol

I rolled through the show mid day Saturday and the crowd seemed pretty good. All of the people behind the tables who I asked told me things were selling well and the crowd was great from their standpoint.

Lots of stuff to see. Some of the production tables were so crowded it was tough to see anything, the WE table was slammed both times I walked by.

It was worth the visit for sure. I bought a couple of customs from makers I had not seen before, and in the back corner of the room I discovered that squid industries has some sort of obsessive fan base composed of teen boys. Busiest place at the show.
