Blade thickness? Jerry!

Jerry,

Love your knives Sir, just have a question for you. Have you thought about offering different thickness choices as an option when someone buys a blade from the Busse website? For example the NMFSH, some people would like it in .25 thickness to include me! Some want the fatty in .32 which is cool, to each his own. So just as you can choose the handle color or material and the blade color how about the thickness. I think at least two to three choices would be great.

The boss jack and le were different thicknesses, the b4le had 2 thicknesses, its not unheard of to offer different thickness but i think Jerry knows what he is doing so what he offers is what we get. Also the cgfbm was .25" and just barely longer than the nmfsh will be...

I'd like to see .25 in the NMFSH.

.

You are not alone, I have bought several Busse knives, and I have come to the conclusion that I like .25 thickness better on the large field blades. .25 and thinner is great for all around use, I will pick up the NMSHBM because of the thickness, someone said it was .245 which is great! I would love to have the NMFSH too! this is why I asked the question in the OP.

A .32 thick with full flat to a thinned out shoulder behind a shallow edge would be interesting.

Two thicknesses is fine.....as long as there is a .32 offered......some of us like these thick beasts and it has been a long time since we have had the chance at a big knife in .32....:D

Jerry makes them all in different thickness .... but not at the same time ie FSH .25 HHFSH .27 HOGFSH .31 all in time ... I'm guessing shop set up cost money

I'd like to see a 3B2 or ASH1 in a .25 sabre grind .... I think I saw a one like that once , a one of a kind maybe , not sure

Yes per my OP, everyone would get to choose! So everyone is happy! In the end it is no big deal to me! I will buy the NMSHBM because I like the thickness! but would I like to buy the NMFSH too, you bet! for me I just won't buy it if it is .32, just to thick! but like I said no big deal because there is enough blades to choose from.

Agreed...fatter is better.

A knife's intended utility should be the main consideration when determining blade thickness. Thinner cuts and slices better, thicker is more durable for (in my opinion) less useful activities where the blade can be used for leverage, like rescue activities, prying, anchoring, etc. But for me .25 is already very thick, and I believe proven quite bomb proof, so .32 is bordering on impractical and burdensome for carry purposes.
