Blade thickness

I have noticed the blade on my late model center pin signature series LB8 is thicker at the tip than my early model mid 80's brown boxer. Was this done to prevent fracturing at the tip or is this how all the late model UH blades are? I am curious if the late model center pin LB7 is the same. Thanks for your input and Happy Thanksgiving.

I suppose no one is interested in the best knife Schrade made. I'm just a god dang idiot I guess.

Relax buddy. Today's a holiday and most folks are probably busy with family and stuff.

If anyone knows the answer to your question, it'll be the guys here. :)

Maybe some pictures so a comparison might be made? Center pin signature series?

Now for the best knife in the world... to me at least. I call this one a center pin (under shield) and UH signature on blade series. Will need to mic. the blade to get thickness. Here it is.

It is not often to find an LB8 with the lock bar pin under the shield. This must be a very late model. The stagalon is a little different too.

OK, now I see what you mean about the center pin. My LB8 is an older one, in the flip-top brown box, and has a serial number. The pin is more to the front. I don't have a newer one like that, or mic to measure the thickness on it.

A quick comparison with a white box LB7 and a newer Sharp Idea 6OT blade shows variances in all three though. The LB7 appears to have a slightly longer and slightly thicker tip. My guess is that one would find a lot of minor differences in this blade through the years. I'll post a picture or two when the sun comes up.

My three lockback Schrades with the same clip blades.

From the side. Note the differences in swedge shapes, especially the LB8, where the swedge cut is all the way to the tip.

Close up same picture.

Looking down on spine. Knives are in same order. I think the swedge shape has a bearing on what I see. The 6OT has more shaved of the front. The LB8 is clearly thinner in appearance overall, but the 6OT is the thinnest at the very tip. The 6OT is also the newest knife.

do not know the technical name for it, but the shape of the blade is way different also. much sharper cut on the 6OT while the change on the side of the blade to the edge is less pronounced in both the LB 7 and LB 8.

I think the sabre cut blade is what you are referring to. On these three knives, they are about the same. The different appearances is from the light hitting the blade and the camera angle.

....you know what...non knife enthusiasts wouldn't have a clue how we firm up over the shape of three swedges...but we do.....dont quite know why...but just know I like them....keep them coming....Hoo Roo
