Blade tip problem with the AR?

Just got my new flat grind S30V AR, and except for one slight nitpick, I am extremely pleased indeed.
The nitpick concerns the blade tip, and how close it is to being exposed. I noticed right awya how shallowly it was covered, and sure enough, I can easily slice up my fingertips by lighly pressing said fingertip betwixt the scales. While this is not a major problem, and a bit of care will easily prevent any accidents, I'm curious...

Has anyone else noticed this?

i too was a bit wary of this,
but after carrying it constantly for about 2 weeks and 100s of openings it still hasnt cut me yet, just make sure you keep the blade pivot tight and youll have no problem.

I should be so smart...Not able to understand after the first cut up fingertip, I went on to slice up the other four..just to make sure all my fingers were the same I guess :D

Understand though, I did do this on purpose, and I had to carefully push my digits betwixt the scales...it's not something that's likely to happen by accident, so nobody get all nervous and twitchy....

I was just asking, on the off chance that my AR was unique in all the world and thus was worth much more than all of your's :)

I hadn't noticed this until you mentioned it...and I have to agree that the tip can be "engaged" if you purposely stick your fiunger in there....but I have not had any problems with my AR yet (though it is new and I carry it in a SOE sheath most of the time). I agree with payback426 that keeping the action tight should keep you safe.

How does one go about keeping the action "tight"? If it gets loose, should you send it back to Strider, or should you tighten it yourself? If the latter, then how?

I got nicked by the closed tip at least three times now, always on my pinky. I just have to be careful when reaching for the knife in my pocket.

AD,
to tighten the blade pivot just use a 1/8" hex key in hole on the side of the pivot that says strider knives around it.
you might have to move the hex key a little to get it to fit as you cant see how it lines up very well.

or i heard somewhere you can get a 7/16" router bit and dremel out the middle to use on the back side:rolleyes:

or you can just send it back to strider:)

I'm thinking the easiest thing to do is just snap a bit of the tip off :D

It's either that, or learn to be more careful around my Strider steel...
