I have modded a few knife blades to cap lifters, unfortunately I have not taken any photos.
I have one more knife that I will be doing in the next few weeks, so photos will be posted of that.
Usually I will just use a dremel on a low setting and a carbide cutting bit (not the disc but the cylindrical one) to rough the cap lifter out and then switch to diamond files for the shaping and then to a small wooden dowel and sand paper to remove the grind/file marks.
Normally I will use the ricasso as the "hook" for the cap lifter since the blade stock is too thin and wouldn't likely survive too long.
Due to this, the ricasso has to be a bit on the larger side, so it will not work for all knives,
Does anyone have a particular way that they have done this mod?
Does your way differ greatly than mine?
