AC39D2E6-E659-4C70-B087-E621210DAAC5.jpeg I just received a new mini vanguard with buffalo horn handle from the custom shop. Where the blade meets the guard there is a small gap on both sides. Should I be concerned about blood and water getting in there?

I wouldn't be. Your cutting with the blade not the inside of the handle. Clean the knife well, spray a little bleach cleaner in the gaps and rinse. You can always spray it out with some canned air or an air compressor afterwards.

Check your Certificate of Authenticity. Mine says "gut hook" blade. Ain't true!! I sent an email to Buck. I think they can send a corrected one.

That is a big gap. I have not seen one that big. I think I would complain. I looked at my old plain jane 102 and 120 Bucks and they have no gap at all. I would think a Custom Shop knife would be at least that good.

I think it's fine. Joe probably built that. Is the reflection making it look larger?

I purchased both of the mini's and just checked the Certificate, They BOTH have typos, and yes, both say gut hook. Factory errors are more valuable, right? :)

That's what I'm thinking. Buck gave us an unadvertised "extra value" certificate. I feel like Charlie Wonka. WoW. There are only a maximum of 16 erroneous certificates in the whole universe and I got one!

I think I would just leave it alone. Look at some knives that have seen battle in wars, some have gaps large enough to stick your fingernail in it and they are still great knives with a lot of life left in them.
